Dajudie Woven Bag Black
|Availability:||Out of stock|
Sorry but this one sold. Write to let us know you would like a bag just like it and we will ask the women to make one! [email protected]
These bags are created by a women's cooperative in Bolivia. The women are members of the Ayoreo tribe and the selling of these bags allows them to maintain some financial independence. The cooperative has learned to sustainably grow the bromeliad plant in nearby forests. The leaves are scraped to remove the spines and the fiber is then spun by rubbing against the thigh. After washing, drying, and dyeing with bark, fruit, or resin, the women "weave" the bags by hand, without a loom or frame.
The bags are incredibly lightweight, yet strong. Use them as a handbag or shopping bag......and they make a great "man bag"! A wonderful gift for a vegan friend!
