Omba Arts Trust supports the sustainable livelihoods of marginalized communities through the development and marketing of unique Namibian crafts. These groups are mostly from the Bushman Tribes, a nomadic tribe desperate for consistent work. They specialize in baskets made from palm leaves and natural dyes from the northern regions of Namibia. Though suitable for contemporary homes, these baskets are all rooted in traditional cultures using various techniques adopted through generations. Contemporary San jewelry made from ostrich eggshell beads continues a 10,000 year-old tradition of the original hunter gatherers of southern Africa. Bracelets fashioned from recycled PVC pipe are a traditional form of jewelry worn by the Ovahimba people but make a modern fashion statement.
